Overview


Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal is rich in culture and art has 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The major town is full of concretize jungles but still within the span of 7 to 17KM drive will bring you to pleasant birding sites which are listed into the Important Birds and Biodiversity Areas(IBA’s). Kathmandu valley does have over 400 species of birds including the Endemic birds of Nepal- Spiny Babbler. The highlight species are Long-tailed Broadbill, Scaly Thrush, Striated Laughingthrush, Grey-throated Babbler, Mountain Bulbull, Great Barbet, Mountain-hawk Eagle, Himalayan Cutia, Kalij Pheasant, Asian-barred owlet, Black-throated Tit, White-tailed Nuthatch, Black Eagle, Hill Partridge with many species of warblers and flycatcher, etc.
